For years, software audits have influenced the development of software asset management. While in the on-premise world the interaction between the two was obvious, the increasing use of cloud services suggests that audits are coming to an end. But for far too long, audits have formed a lucrative revenue stream for vendors to abandon them easily. Looking ahead to the next few years, and assuming audits are retained, this this talk will focus on the following questions:
- How do manufacturers manage to audit in the cloud?
- What can the measurement of usage by individual users look like?
- Which methods are technically possible, which are legally possible?
- And how can potential audits in the cloud be anticipated and prevented?
