Originally educated as an electronic engineer I later on added marketing, management and economy to my background. I worked for 25 year within the financial industry in a number of roles amongst this in roles like IT Manager (Netherlands and Nordics), European Support Center Manager and Global head of Service Management. Particularly that last role included processes like Hardware & Software Asset management and design and implementation of this area. Nearly 6 years ago I joined Skanska, one of the leading global construction companies, where I now focus on Projects and Service Management at corporate level. In this role I am responsible for a team of people managing the global projects and services within Skanska as well as driving the global SAM practice and related work within Skanska. I support Procurement of Global Software agreements and Manage Software Audits and have primary responsibility for the Microsoft Enterprise Agreement.
What drives you in your job –Ensuring that services are delivered in a way that end-users will experience as “utitliy” – it just works. SAM as an topic is often a misunderstood area where most people see this as unnecessary until an audit requests comes in. I am passionate about making people understand the role of SAM and having good and sound agreements with vendors in place. Seeing IT staff understand it and change their ways of working to minimize the risk of non-compliance gives me great satisfaction. Getting people to work together to grow a practice like SAM is very rewarding.
